Many of our clients want to take control of their website. The best way to give that control is through a Content Management System (CMS), which is a user interface which enables non-technical users to access, add, edit and delete the content displayed on their site.
There are numerous options available when it comes to choosing a CMS. Many companies just supply the CMS. Some just design the website and buy a CMS off the shelf.
We don't do that. We don't like the idea of bolt-ons, as they never quite do what's required. We build our own CMS right into the DNA of the site. So it's completely bespoke and performs exactly how it should.
When we first started out we knew that website development was going to be a major part of our business. As part of that we found that many clients wanted to manage their own websites, from simply adding a latest news article, to controlling every aspect of the content.
So we started building small modules that can be used alone or as a group to offer a wide range of options. The most popular types of module are Image Galleries, News and Events pages, Staff pages, Calendars and Client Lists, although our web development team can build a CMS for any use.
Our website and CMS development team consists of both designers and programmers (and even they come from a design background). This integration of highly talented members means we can not only develop stable and precise CMS technology, but interfaces that are nice to look at and ultra easy to use.
The theory behind a Content Management System is actually pretty simple. We build a database (we use the industry standard MySQL) fill it with content, and then build an interface using PHP5, which gives users the ability to edit that content. Obviously it's a bit more complex than that, but we like to make things as straight forward as possible.
If you'd like a demonstration of some of the systems we've built, get in touch.
We've all had to learn new software at some point, whether it's an email package or Microsoft word. A CMS is no different, it takes a little bit of time to learn, but as part of any project we offer a couple of hours training to get you started. Most of our clients can be up and running within an hour. And if you get stuck, we're at the end of a phone.
