Olympic medalist Jamie Baulch has been a friend of Bluegg for a number of years, so we were naturally chuffed when he came to us for help with his new venture - The Jamie Baulch Academy. The Academy is a fantastic scheme that aims to inspire children by giving motivational talks and training sessions with some of the world's most successful athletes, as well as helping to raise funds for schools. Jamie called upon Bluegg to create a brand identity for the Academy and a brochure.
We started with the logo and brand style. After a couple of meetings and a research period it was decided that the logo should communicate Jamie's personality, be personable but professional and portray the fun side of the organisation.
We developed a logo that uses a customised hand written typeface in conjunction with strong sans serif font. During the research phase, Jamie mentioned that the plan was to take the Academy across the UK and he wanted a distinctive British feel to the brand. To help with this we used a colour palette of red, blue and white. Once the logo was finalised we applied it to a range of stationery including some pretty fancy spot UV varnished business cards.
Jamie also required a promotional brochure to send to schools promoting the Academy and its offering. Using the logo and colour palette as a starting point we designed a clean and crisp brochure layout using black and white photography of the various sporting stars that are involved.
